The Corn Lady

8-5-2015  | Patricia van Essche

Our Grandmother Thieneman, Mother of "Paul" - the founder of Paul's Fruit was known as "The Corn Lady."  She worked at the Chenoweth Square location and cut windows in the ears of corn and stocked the tomato table.  Customers loved seeing her in action and she loved working up until the age of 93.  She loved working and feeling needed.  Many times, I had to pick up Grandma and drive her to work.  She was not happy if you were a minute late.  I love having this memory of Grandma and how she loved being part of Paul's Fruit Market.
