What is an Orange Flesh Melon?

7-14-2015  | Ben Wells

The Orange Flesh Melon is similar to the Honeydew on the outside but has a similar taste, interior color and aroma to that of a Cantaloupe. this melon generally has a distinct aroma and a very sweet flavor. To find a ripe, Orange-Flesh, look for a creamy, light rind and a sugary aroma.

Ripeness.  If the melon gives under slight pressure, and gives off a sugary aroma, the melon is ripe and ready to eat.

Cleaning. Melons are grown on the ground, so the outside should be cleaned before cutting. Run cool water over the melon before eating to remove any surface dirt that may remain.

Storage. Cover cut melons with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator, as any other fruit.
