The "Satsuma" Tangerine has been the celebratory choice of citrus during the holidays and for many years has been lovingly named the Christmas tangerine. Growing up one of seven, we would awake to find our stockings simply filled with a clementine, a peppermint or two on the holiday of St. Nicolas. The smell of peeling a mandarin orange to this day reminds me of Christmas past as they were only available during the month of December. Fill a bowl or basket with your favorite citrus, tangerines, mandarins, clementines to have on hand for healthy snacks and holiday celebrations. The "Satsuma" is a delightful treat which comes wrapped in it's own easy to peel bright orange package. Open up a little satsuma, it's like a burst of sweet sunshine on a cold Winter day.
