In France, a tian is often served during the Summer. It usually contains 3 or 4 vegetables which have been washed, sliced thinly and then artfully arranged in a baking dish. Depending on your preference, gruyere cheese may be added in between the slices or grated on top. Bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Fresh herbs may also be added, basil, rosemary, garlic and sprinkle with sea salt and finish with ground pepper. A tian takes a little time to create but is simply impressive when served.
